Euros to Thai baht in Phuket

Updated

CAT Exchange buys euro cash at a single rate for every denomination, so a 10 euro note and a 200 euro note are counted at the same number of baht.

What is the euro rate in Bang Tao today?

Euros are bought at one rate, whatever note you hand over. Unlike dollars and yuan, the euro is not split into denomination tiers here, so a purse of 10s is counted at the same rate as a folder of 200s.

On 4 September 2026 CAT Exchange buys euro cash for 37.71 THB per euro at its Bang Tao office in Phuket, at one rate for all denominations from 5 to 200 euro. The office is open daily from 09:00 to 21:00.

How much baht do 200, 500 and 1,000 euros give?

Multiply and stop there. The quoted number is a net rate, with counting and handling already inside it, so nothing is deducted at the counter.

A 200 euro exchange at CAT Exchange on 4 September 2026 is calculated as 200 x 37.71 THB. 500 euro comes to 500 x 37.71 THB and 1,000 euro to 1,000 x 37.71 THB, with no counting or handling fee taken off the total.

That predictability is the practical reason many European visitors bring euros rather than converting to dollars at home. Two conversions cost two spreads. One conversion, done in Phuket, costs one.

Is the 500 euro note accepted?

Ask before you come. The 500 euro note has not been issued since 2019, though it remains legal tender across the eurozone, and Thai banks handle it more cautiously than the smaller denominations.

CAT Exchange takes these notes by prior agreement, confirmed in the chat for your specific note, and no promise is made in advance.

Send a photo of both sides to WhatsApp or Telegram with the serial visible. The answer comes back before you travel, which beats discovering the answer at the counter after a drive from Patong or Kata.

What about worn or damaged euro notes?

Same procedure, same answer: by agreement. Cashiers check every note for tears, tape, ink, stamps and water damage, because the Thai bank that receives the cash afterwards runs the same check.

Nothing here is a refusal in advance. A note with a soft fold and a note missing a corner are different cases, and each one is decided on the photo or at the counter. Clean flat notes never raise the question at all.

Do you need a passport for a euro exchange?

Yes. Thai law requires a licensed money changer to identify every customer exchanging cash on the premises, so bring the passport itself rather than a photo of it.

That requirement applies to cash across the counter. Remote operations settled by bank transfer follow a different route, described on the SBP transfer page.

How long does the rate hold after you confirm it?

Sixty minutes. Confirm the amount in the chat, get the rate, and it stays fixed while you drive over from Laguna, Cherng Talay, Boat Avenue, Layan or Surin.

CAT Exchange fixes a confirmed euro rate, 37.71 THB per euro on 4 September 2026, for 60 minutes after the customer agrees to it in WhatsApp or Telegram. An average cash exchange at the Bang Tao counter takes up to 15 minutes and ends with an electronic receipt.

Rates move during the day, so the 4 September 2026 figure above is a snapshot. The current rates page carries the latest one.

Where do you exchange euros in Phuket?

At the office on Bandon-Cherngtalay Road in Si Sunthon, open daily 09:00 to 21:00, with the route and map on the Bang Tao office page. For a larger sum, cash delivery brings the baht to your address instead.

If you are also carrying dollars or pounds, they can go into the same operation. Rates and denomination rules for those sit on the US dollar page and the cash currency overview.
